Excel to system

Turn your Excel customer list into a customer management system (CRM)

A customer list in Excel is enough at first; then the copies multiply and the follow-ups slip. Upload the file as it is and Fanann reads its columns and proposes a full customer system: a card per customer, follow-up stages, reports and roles for the sales team. Then it builds it with your customers already inside.

Why now

When does the Excel file stop being enough?

1

Several copies of the same file

Everyone keeps their own copy, copies travel by WhatsApp and email, and nobody knows which one is current.

2

Follow-ups that get forgotten

A sheet never reminds you of the customer you promised to call next week, or shows who you have not contacted in a month.

3

No permissions, no history

Whoever opens the file sees everything and can delete anything, and you cannot tell who changed what, or when.

Sample columns

What does each column in your file become?

These are common columns in a file like this, what Fanann reads from them and how they show up in the system.

Column in your fileRead asBecomes in the system
Customer nameText

The title of the customer card and the first field you search by.

PhonePhone

A phone field in one format, used to spot duplicate customers in the file.

CityCategory

A pick list, a filter on the customer table and a report by city.

SourceCategory

Where the customer came from: an ad, a referral, an event. It becomes a report of your sources.

StatusCategory

Follow-up stages (new, interested, customer) with a count for each.

Last contactDate

A date field, and from it a “not contacted for a while” list.

Deal valueMoney

A money field that is totalled on the dashboard and in reports.

Your file does not need these exact names: Fanann reads your own column headers, and you can change any field’s type or name before the build.
The proposed system

What does Fanann propose for a file like this?

A proposal you see before the build and can adjust: switch off a module, rename a field, or add what is missing in a sentence.

Screens

  • A customer table with search and filters
  • A customer card with their details and contact log
  • An add and edit form with correctly typed fields
  • A list of today’s follow-ups

Reports

  • Customers by status
  • Customers by source and city
  • Customers not contacted for a while

Roles

  • A manager who sees every customer and report
  • A sales rep who adds and follows up
  • A read-only account
The steps

Five steps to turn your Excel customer list into a customer management system (CRM)

  1. 1

    Prepare the customer file

Make the first row the column headers, one customer per row and one piece of information per column: name, phone, city, status. Remove empty rows and side notes.

  2. 2

Upload it in “Excel to App”

In the Fanann dashboard open “Excel to App” and upload the .xlsx or .csv file (up to 10 MB). If your list lives in Google Sheets, download it in either format first.

  3. 3

    Review what Fanann read

You see each column’s type, the number of customers, duplicate rows and empty cells. Correct the type of any column that was not read the way you want.

  4. 4

    Adjust the proposed system

Fanann proposes modules, screens, reports and roles. Switch off what you do not need, rename fields, and add what is missing in the description, such as follow-up reminders.

  5. 5

Build it and try it with your customers

Choose “Plan first” to review the plan, or “Build now”. The system is built with your customers inside; then invite your team and set each person’s role.

An example description to send with the file

A customer system for an office-supplies company. The sales team is four people and each rep follows their own customers. I want a reminder for anyone not contacted in 30 days and a monthly report of customers by source.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Can I make a customer management program from an Excel file without coding?
Yes. You upload the customer file, Fanann reads its columns and proposes a system with screens, reports and roles, then builds it with your data inside. You review and adjust in plain words; you write no code.
Which columns should the customer file have?
There is no required template. A clear header row and one column per piece of information is enough. Common columns: name, phone, city, source, status, last-contact date and deal value. The clearer the headers, the better the proposal.
What happens to duplicate customers in the file?
Fanann points out the duplicate rows it found before the build, and the decision is yours: clean them in the file and upload again, or fix them after import inside the system or from the Control Center.
Can the sales team work in the system at the same time?
Yes. The system is a web app with a database and user accounts, so everyone works in it together, each with their own role and permissions, instead of passing copies of the file around.
How many customers can I import from the Excel file?
Fanann accepts Excel and CSV files up to 10 MB. About 5,000 rows per sheet are imported at build time, and Fanann tells you what was left out. Any customers beyond that can be imported later as a CSV from the Control Center.
Is turning my customers file into a system free?
Excel to App is part of Fanann’s paid plans. Signing up is free, and you can try Fanann and plan mode before deciding. After the build you manage your customers from the Control Center, which is included in every plan.
